Frodsham Crafty stall
ready for craft fair on Sunday?
Ohh now I am in organise mode…
I am getting all my bits and pieces ready for an early start on Sunday, planetaye will have a stall at the Contemporary Arts and Crafts Fair at Astley Park, Chorley on the 6th Feb 2011 so here is a wee sneak preview of some new Valentinies that will be available!
If you are around Astley Park – Chorley on Sunday please drop in and have a look.
Now I must get on with my organising… making teeny tiny boxes for teeny tiny cakes.
first fruit :: teeny iced xmas cake
Hello mini foodies! my latest creation. They seem to be getting smaller, but the photography is a little better I think.
Ready for winter high tea and sitting on a frilled pale blue doily. Full of currants and cherries, a generous layer of golden marzipan iced with a snowdrift of royal icing. I couldn’t resist cutting myself a slice.
Presented on a wooden board, finished with a wee sprig of holly and a few crumbs left for any passing mousie!
See replicakes of planetaye on folksy.
(please note: all handmade from polymer clay)
3 tier mini cake
My latest tryouts for polymer clay designs have resulted in a few more round things. It must be that way my hands work or something… anyway above is a wee tester wedding cake. It is built on a tinfoil armature and has no finished base as yet but was a reasonable first attempt. Less than 2 inches high/diameter so not as tiny as those you see for dolls houses but I was aiming more for the “keepsake of your special day” kinda thing.
Below you can see a trio of (gold)fishy mirrors… not to scale – ha ha! Shown a wee bit bigger than life size here.
Nearly fiinished and ready for the planetaye shop in a day or two – hooray!
All Things Lime…a Folksy Friday
Although I spend a lot of time blundering about webby spaces I very rarely know what’s going on. (“That sounds like you” – the audience) I had no idea what a Folksy Friday was until yesterday …a Thumbthing Thursday?
Well I know now ‘cos one of my little handmade products has been included in a Folksy Friday collection. Many thanks to Anna Hamilton-Gunn.
Nip off to the Lime Garden to have a look – the Folksy Friday lime collection…
But what was featured? ah – my set of tiny swirly buttons –Â so if you fancy adding a cocktail punch to your usual LBD click off to the planetaye shop.
Caipirinhas all round I think!
out the oven – works in progress
Here is a wee glimpse of what I get up to, in those moments in betweeen snooping for a real job and looking at The Daily Squee! Buttons, magnets, mirrors and some odd uncatogorised thingies. Polymer clay is my friend (apart from days when it all ends up as a grey lump –Â although this is still useful…?) Get thee to the wee shop for some of these and others.
meet my new FOLKSY shop
At last I have taken the plunge and opened a wee Folksy online shop.
You can find me here planetaye.folksy.com.
So far I have 4 items in my shop but this will increase (daily?) as I finish off my recent creative burst! All the polishing and buffing is good for the muscles in one arm!
Magnets, badges and dangly dough hearts – not a bad start. 😉
Fresh Out the Oven
My first batch of buttons, polymer clay moulded onto metal covers with a shank at the back. These need a bit of attention to remove little burs and flecks, mibbe polish the white stars/hearts too? (finished size = 22mm diameter)
Having got myself an oven thermometer I discovered today that my little fan oven, kept for craft work, was running about 20°C below the indicated temperature!! This explains the crumbling and snapping of my last set of beads and whatnots (I had blamed some “old” clay). So the moral of the story is, always check – the display could be lying.
So here’s the complete collection with the white areas sanded and buffed for a nice shine!
