fruit-forage-feast

Another nice day and I remembered to toddle to the top of the hill armed with a plastic box. My objective was a gathering of brambles and sure enough the nice big bush I had already photy’d was still covered with good sized fruit. I soon had at least a punnet full and a hand full of scratches/nettle stings and some purple fingers. Later in the day I decided to turn my hand to jam making instead of scoffing the lot in one go. Although not a great jam eater I am still pretty chuffed with the result – only one small pot but that’ll do fine. mmm…. sticky.

a wee stroll in the sun

Off out wi’ the camera since it was nice ‘n’ sunny this forenoon. I had intended heading for a beautiful garden (didn’t snap as it was being worked on at the time) but got distracted by these on the way. They are connected to my previous post As I Walked Out… since it is more or less the same area just shifted forward four months. Spot the differences?

  1. wonderful wildflower end of the Millenium Field… super
  2. closeup of a cornflower, my first
  3. medium sized gowan – big daisy
  4. the brightest yellow – black eyed susan/rudbekia
  5. fluffy thistle heads
  6. fat glossy rosehips
  7. broom pods ready to pop
  8. popped! (sound backdrop of pops, crackles, buzzing bees and thrumming crickets)
  9. bramble view – taste good too!

personal poppy

Mother Nature has seen fit to reward the previous two posts with the tiniest poppy growing at the front of my house.
Despite chucking wildflower seeds at the ‘wild patch’ for a couple of years there have never been any results, till now! But she is sooo small, even this photy gives her a false robustness. Really only 15mm or so across and with a stalk like a hairy thread. Good for you Tiny!
